We are pleased to present the latest edition of "This Week on AG." Please take a moment to review our upcoming activities and updates as you enjoy your Sunday coffee, tea, and newspaper.

Sunday 13th April will see the next Fantasy League fixture releases in the forum. As always, please arrange to get your game played in the usual manner, and any issues to please let your admin know.

Monday 14th April will see our racers head to the next race of the F1 24 GP season as we head to Saudi Arabia. Lights will be out at 10pm, so please make sure you are on and ready ahead of the start time.

Tuesday 15th April will also see the next F1 24 time trial released, so do keep an eye out in the forum for that one and have a go at getting the fastest lap for this week.

Wednesday 16th April will see a mid-week event, as we take to EA SPORTS FC in our golden goal event. Start time will be at 10pm, so please keep an eye out in the forums that evening for sign-ups.

Friday 18th April will see our members grab their ghillie suits and take to the battleground in our Call of Duty event. A mix of modes will be on offer across the evening, with Warzone also on the agenda. Please keep an eye out in the forum on the day for sign-ups.

Saturday 19th April will see the second wave of fixture releases for this week. As always, please arrange to get your games done in the usual manner.

What else do we have this week?

Don’t forget that our H2H is underway, and there are only a few weeks left of the season to try and get the targets. The race for the magnificent 7 is underway, so to see who will get it before Transfer Deadline Day.

We are back with another edition of the AG Podcast, and for this week, myself and DX I Jaminator are joined by MarcusJonesy and Goose who makes his first appereance, as we discuss a variety of different topics. The Fantasy League has thrown up some silverware winners already this season, this week saw the crowning of a new one so we talk about that, we get the chance to speak to Goose who gives us a bit about himself, and Formula Frame Labs, and we also discuss who really does take the biscuit with their choices when it comes to their snacks.

I sat down this week with aaronc333 who this week secured cup success, beating Burga boii in the final of the Divisional Cup. Let's see what he had to say.

Congratulations on your first bit of Silverware for the season. How does it feel?

Thank you. Nice to finally win something again, it’s been a while since I’ve won anything in the Fantasy League. I’ve been in a few finals in recent seasons, but never been able to get over the line.


- You’ve scored 7 past Burga, do you feel the game reflected the scoreline?

7 would suggest a bit of a battering, but we know what this game is like. I think I definitely deserved the win, Burga clearly wasn’t at it that night, to my benefit, but yeah, I passed the ball around well, and took my chances. All you can ask for really.


- Did you have to change anything in terms of the way you approached the game?

I never change anything, I’m very stubborn with my team. I play the same formation, with the same tactics, every game. If it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work. I think I’ve played the same way for about 4 years now. I started making the odd sub here and there now though.


- What would you say was the closest game in your run to glory?

They were all different games, against 3 very good players. Paul is fairly similar to me in play style, just attack attack with the mindset of, if you score 4, I’m scoring 5. Makes for a good game.

TopCat was the closet game, he plays a formation you don’t really see much in the FL, 3 at the back, or 5 if he beats you and you wanna claim he’s defensive 

Burga normally likes to get the ball forward as quick as possible get his striker one on one with the keeper.

- What are your hopes for the rest of the season? Do you feel confident there might be some more silverware to come?

I’m doing okay in the league so far, 3rd in the table, 4 points off the top. I have got some tough. games left to play, in fairness, all the games in Div1 are hard. I’ll just keep playing how I play, and see where it takes me. I’ve always thought the lower rated player suit me better. Next round of the CL as well, so hopefully I can add one more trophy to the collection, before the season is over.

I always love the reset in the AG Fantasy League, everyone starting on a level playing field and with the chance to mould a brand new squad into the team you want them to be. It didn't really matter a great deal which squad you ended up with in the sense that they all averaged out at the same rating, so it was more a case of trying to find players that suit the way you want to play. I had a shortlist of a few clubs I liked, but didn't particularly want to pay the full 30m million for any of them. A lot of people got in early and slapped big bids on franchises they fancied so I avoided them and stuck 25m on Bastia. There were no other bidders so its off to sunny Corsica to begin the squad building journey with 5m scudo in the bank.

Sporting Club Bastia play in Ligue 2, the second tier of French football, and are from Bastia on the northeastern coast of the Mediterranean island of Corsica. They've been going 120 years and their greatest claims to fame are reaching the UEFA Cup final in 1978 and winning the Coupe de France in 1981. Bastia play at the 16,000 capacity Stade Armand-Cesari, and the Blues have had a few famous names play for them over the years, such as Johnny Rep, Roger Milla, Michael Essien and Alex Song.

Looking at my squad, I just about have the players that fit the 4-3-3 style I've enjoyed playing in the last couple of seasons. The defense looks pretty solid with Derick Poloni and Bohnert as fullbacks, and Guidi as a centre back. I'll probably move my wonderkid Acheampong into the middle as the other CB, and and I'm hopeful he'll have some upgrades the more games he plays for Chelsea. My two highest rated players Ducrocq and Huseinbasic fill the defensive midfield positions but the main position I desperately need to fill is at CAM. The attack will be led by Fuseini, which might surprise a few people as he's only 5'7", not my usual kind of forward, but he's very nippy so I hope he'll get in behind a few defenses. My back-up striker at the moment is my other wonderkid, Chido Obi, currenty of Manchester United, so fingers crossed he gets some first team appearances and the upgrades that would follow.

My aim for the season as usual is firstly to stay up, and then try and push for the play-offs. Its very hard to predict how the division will pan out, as we're staring with players of ratings lower than we ever have, so it'll all be depending on how quickly people adapt. Hopefully its going to be a fun season!​
