AG Podcast Episode 126 - Season's early doors

AG Podcast Episode 126 - Season's early doors

This week's episode sees TheAshCohen09 joined by Burga boii patoninety and Amen Raz as we discuss the first few fixtures from the Fantasy League. Shaun is setting an early precedent early on in the league season with his goal form, and is a huge favourite to do well this season, so we talk about his chances, including a potential final to come, Division 2 is throwing up a storm early on with numerous players on form to do well, and potentially all be around a similar point mark, who will be in the top four by the time we get to the next episode? Ash feels he could be. In Division three, Bri has started strongly, and this has been benefitted this week with the addition of keeper Manuel Neuer to the mix, will he be the man to push towards the title? Or will someone else do it?

This week's episode is just under 50 minutes.

The Podcast is now available on Soundcloud, Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music

Please do PM myself if you would like to get involved with a future episode. It's really easy to do, and it's great to get you on-board.

Bastia Hoping for a Short Stay in the Basement

Bastia Hoping for a Short Stay in the Basement

Despite finishing outside of the relegation places in Div 2 last season, it was only because the 3 teams below me had all their games pooled. Now that the divisions have been realigned, its no surprise I find myself back in Division 3 for Season 48 after only a couple of seasons away. Although my team seems to have slipped under the radar in most predictions for promotion, I have to back myself as having a good chance of going straight back up again.
My squad is still very much a work in progress, as poor results last season is still seeing me tinkering about a little bit with the formation and a lot of the starting 11. The goalkeepers are sorted with Thaim being the first choice and Placide as the back up. That should sort me for the season. AGFL legend Sean Raggett is the rock my defence is based on at the moment, but he needs a pacy centre half partner to cover for hi absence of any pace. I tried Acheampong and Doumbia there last season, but both those a really full backs so I may need to start looking on the transfer market for a better fit. I have plenty of fullbacks, all interchangeable, so I need to settle of a preferred pair and probably get rid of a couple of the others.
The defensive midfielders are the highest rated players in the squad, and with Ducrocq, Huseinbasic and Firmino I have some real quality there. I'll be looking to make changes with the attacking midfielders, with only Roberto Alves and De Amorim safe as they seem to play a lot better than their ratings would suggest.
The star player last season was the diminutive striker Fuseini. He's got the pace to burn any defender but also knows how to stick the ball in the net, bagging 37 goals in 22 games last season. I usually play with two up top, and have the teenagers Obi and Tresoldi competing for that second strikers place. I don't need to keep both so I may be cashing in on one of them fairly soon.

The season starts with games against Gazgrass which could be a massive banana skin of an opening fixture. I might be expected to win because of where he finished last season, but with a very narrow skill gap between the top and bottom in Division 3, there won't be any games that can be taken for granted. My bye week isn't until the final matchday so hopefully I wont be left sweating on a vital league position while I have to sit and wait for everyone else to play. The extra goal handicap in the Champions League will be very welcome this season, hopefully it'll keep me out of the Europa League again. The transfer market has already exploded into life, so I need to get busy scouting new recruits. Good luck for Season 48 everyone!
