Sweden here I come

I landed the job of managing AIK in Sweden 🇸🇪 about 4 weeks ago, I was a little hesitant as I knew nothing about the players I was given. 50% from the actual team which has hopefully worked in my favour as the real Allsvenskan league has just kicked off, so upgrades ahoy! AIK I believe are one of the powerhouse teams, but that's like saying Celtic are a powerhouse...only in their league.

My starting line up on reset looked like this

As it is as of 02/04/25

Player brought in to 'help' that have been good.

galz.webp

Nicolas Galazzi - Bought from TC, instant impact from CAM, 69 finisj=hing which is better than a lot of strikers

russo.webp

Ignacio Russo Cordero - Bought from Wizz, another impact player, he know where the net is. I was able to move on Ratkov for 10mil due to his arrival.

nils.webp

Nils Zätterström - Another Wizz purchase, plays in Sweden and for the national team, only 64 but 81 Pot. I hate to say it, but he plays over his rating as he has good skills were it counts. Might replace in the lineup, but won't get sold.

Plenty of changes, some here; selling Vata to Shaun because he was a Celtic player for 10mil. Stergiou left for 8mil, Ronaldo lite to Aaron in exchange for youth wonderkid + cash.
I struggled like crazy to generate goals after my week one game, so a few days off and formation testing I seem to have got something going again. I still get beat but I can now score again!
Areas for improvement, well back 4, but to 2 CBs for sure and look to improve the midfield a bit. Mostly through BFAs just now.
I've won 3 and lost 3, draws are soooo last season....It's going to be a tough season as always.

My teambuilding goal is to try to get players from the Allsvenskan league in for the summer and possibly players from the MLS & Eliteserien for summer upgrades.

Oh what have I done!!!

Welcome to my first Blog in many a month if not longer. As most of you know I love a good blog or 2. So Taking part in the popular COD 2v2 made me realise I needed the AG fantasy league back in my life, so I took the plunge bought the game and signed up for the forthcoming season.

Over the coming days the ever so generous banker released the details and the anticipation started to grow. As more news trickled through that buzz started to increase, and then the post we all wanted to see, the Squads.
Firstly I think everyone would agree that Big B 1970 has done some stellar work making the squads and the freshness of keeping some players from that franchise has also landed well. As soon as that post was put out everyone was furiously looking, scouting, trawling through sofifa or the game to pick the best players.

I had picked 4 maybe 5 top teams, one I wanted more than any other as they were well balanced and had the legs required to run all day. I had budgeted what I thought could spend to help with the rebuild once the window opened. I was sure about who, what and how much.

And then the auction happened, all that went out of the window when I seen the money being splashed and not only did I miss out on all the teams, like a madman I got sucked into a panic bid for a team I really hadn’t checked or sorted through and spanked my whole budget purely because I realised the 2 forwards were quick!! Not the best decision I’ve ever made, but hey ho it’s part of the fun of rebuilding a team. So who did I get,
Step forward Randers.

A relatively new team. They were only founded in 2003, have a capacity of roughly 10,000 and have won the Danish cup twice in that time. The squad has a spattering of youth and some older heads, the ethos I’m attempting is to have a squad of my favoured Bristol City players and mainly u23 with potential. What that looks like I don’t know and the formation that’s set at present may evolve, and that will take some time getting used to as I always liked to have my own custom setup, something which looks like it’s no longer in the game.
The squad

As far as squads go it’s not a 30M squad so I’ve dug myself into a bit of a hole there, but there are a couple of positives. Both Odey and Toure can run, that’s the first. Infantino is a CAM but he’s the best finisher so may be deployed further forward.
Coulibaly will be a key component to start with as he is a mobile, strong CM who has the ability to break play up.
And the 2 wonder kids that have been placed are ok but not world beaters just yet. Wurmband possesses good pace but at this stage that’s it, and Philips is a Spurs Loanee at Stoke who has good awareness for a young player, so he will be the no 1 CB to start.

Overspent Yes ✅
Unhappy with squad Yes✅
Happy to be back Yes✅

Let’s the games commence, the squad building to begin and the priority is to have a bit of fun and not take things too seriously and see where it takes us.

Thanks for reading and have a good season everyone.

As the Danes would say Held og Lykke

My 1st Site Silverware

Although not the longest season or even as long as it was initially set out it can’t take away from getting my 1st major trophy awarded on the site. Also the first trophy I’ve won in something that isn’t fifa which feels good.

The season started really well I managed to just pip pole position in qualifying in Australia by a couple of tenths. I managed a very clean turn 1 and ended up extending a lead to and winning by 10 seconds.

Race 2 Baku…..
Baku, Baku, Baku. Baku if nothing else raised concerns of me still being a bit naive in the game f racing. Or maybe just even a little too excitable. Having qualified pole with a second and a half gap to second I got to the grid on a high withough a care in the world, “same as last week, good turn 1 and get away” how wrong I was. Despite getting a good lights out reaction I’m 2nd going into turn one. I then spin out at turn 2 with seemingly no explanation finding myself down the field, that is until around sector 3 I realise to my surprise that some clever race director started me on hard tires to the result of me feeling like I had skates on. The naive lack of understanding and as a result of me trying to really push to get into contention ultimately led to me binning the car at the end of sector 1. DNF and no points really stung

Race 3 Monza
Being the Ferrari fan that I am and with a Ferrari engine in my Haas, Monza was one I really wanted to win. I managed to qualify p3 just not managing to match the pace set by Joe or josh. After what can only be described at a strumash at turn 1 I was on the receiving end along with some others of a very questionable penalty decision by the FIA doing everything I could to rectify this a chase the leaders I managed to place second however my time penalty taking me back down to 3rd.

Race 4 Silverstone
Silverstone was another pole position after qualifying and all was well. Until of course that is until we get to the grid and the clouds have burst. Cats and dogs it was. This was as sketchy as they felt personally and finished very surprised and someone proud to finish P1 along wil a 13 second lead, really mustering up any inner Ayrton that I had.

Race 5 Zandvoort
This was very fun and tense all in one. Opening again for the 2nd week running to rain was an unwelcome surprise. However no where near as heavy. Everyone started on hard however. I was 2nd after T1 having gave up the lead again Lando style I had a chase on my hands to catch Ben. The pressure paid off and I regained the lead on lap 4. I was constantly trying to get updates on weather and tires, leading to taking the plunge on intermediate tires around lap 6. Lo and behold only to be told a lap later that the rain was going off and the track would dry out. The decision was either see it out on inters or take a gamble on trying to catch the pack on soft in a couple of laps. I went softs and came out in 3rd behind Joe with Ben leading. The time penalties on Ben ment I only had to get into within 5 seconds midway through the last lap I managed to get it to 4. A sudden yellow flag was to indicate that Ben in 1st had suffered an issue and rustlers in the retirement meaning I’d managed to take P1. The one last scare was my fuel tank emptying on the last turn but managed to coast over the line just in time

Race 6 Miami
This due to there only being a 3 man race left if reasonably uneventful in terms of racing. However I had some IRL technical issues. I slowly felt myself getting further away from my brake pedal with every push. It turned out that the grip screw had came loose and my base seat was slowly detaching from my pedal mount. With a loft hatch behind me I’m glad I clocked it when I did. Managed to finish p1 in a race that actually, and I hope diode doesn’t mind me saying, ended up being more competitive that it had to be.

Final Race Portugal
Leading the championship by 22 points I knew 8th or better sees me win it, but if I’m honest and wanted a shootout. A 1st vs 2nd battle for it. And whatever happened, happened. Unfortunately however. It didn’t pan out that way as Joe didn’t race. But still. A very solid pole position from qualifying. Off the line my Haas teammate seemed to get the jump on me into the swoop of turn one and before I know it I lm getting spun. A three point turn later and I’m dead last. After a battle and a wing later. With the help of penalties awarded I got on the podium to finish the season with a 3rd place and the championship officially clinched.

My final stats where:

Points - 133
Races - 7
Wins - 4
Podiums 6
Pole positions - 6
Fastest laps - 3
Driver of The Day - 3

I would like to give a mention to the guys that allow us to do this as well in Payne and Josh it’s a great wing of the site and long may it continue. And to everyone participating making it what it is.

Here’s to next season on 24 and hopefully a full long season at that.

Dresden Secure Division 2 Place With Play-Off Win

Dresden Secure Division 2 Place With Play-Off Win

Having been relegated in Season 44 and coming straight back up in Season 45, the aim this season was to avoid being labelled a yo-yo team and stay up. This was ultimately achieved but it went all the way to the relegation play-off before Division 2 safety was secured. The opening games weren't a disaster, I was content taking a point from x Morriis and 3 points from AJS Ryjones. After these games, the infamous patch came in on FC25 and I knew the season would get a lot harder. A strong part of my game has been the ability to defend, and then counter attack, but with defending turning into a complete lottery, I was going to have to change to a more attacking formation and hope for the best. After 2 heavy defeats to Gardner I 8 I I managed to pick up points from TR00PER1919 and deareststorm to keep me above the relegation zone. Next game a pair of high scoring games against MarcTheSharc in which I scored 6 then 5 goals but still lost both. Wins against CCFC_Coxy and JoeA15 game me enough points to avoid automatic relegation (especially with the bottom two having points deducted) but I'd completely forgotten about the play-off! I dont beat TheAshCohen09 too often, but looking at his Division 3 record this season, I saw that he had conceded a lot so as long as I could keep the prolific Gabriel Jesus quiet I was in with a chance. I took the lead early but it was immediately cancelled out by an equaliser, but I went into half time 4-2 up. Ash pressed very aggressively in the 2nd half but I managed to get the passing going and finished victorious with the final score of 5-4.

In the Champions League, the story was the same as the previous few seasons, with some good results in the first stage seeing me though to Stage 2 in the upper tier. 2 big defeats then halted progress but at least I got a good win against Gardner I 8 I after he'd thrashed me in the league. We had a swift exit from the other cups, beaten in the first round of both, by AJS Ryjones in the Divisional Cup, and ItsOnlyJEFF9108 in the League Cup.

I used a total of 27 players this season, which is more than I normally go though, but I was doing well financially and I was able to stick to the theme of my squad, bringing as many German players as I could to Dresden. I won 11 players in BFA's this season, not all of whom I kept, as I flipped a few of them for a decent profit. Most of them were bargains, the most expensive being Leroy Sane, well worth the 35m I paid for him. In the transfer market I was in profit to the tune of just under 100m, probably my best season for doing deals.
Although it wasn't a requirement, I used my reserve goalkeeper for cup games this season, I just thought if he's in the squad I can at least let a play a few games. It didn't seem to make any difference to the results either.
With my 4-3-3 formation, Alexander Sørloth was the focus of the attack and scored an impressive 40 goals, but the wingers Gordon and Sane as well as Brandt at CAM chipped in with good totals too. My longest serving player Maxi Beier started on the right wing, but the arrival of Sane meant he dropped to the bench to be used as a half time sub when I needed to go 4-2-4 and chase some goals.

Its time to say goodbye to the squad now that we have a reset. I'm sure I'm not the only manager that feels a slight attachment to some of these players and we have our favourites that we're reluctant to part with. I'm sure I'll be seeing some of them again when we get a few seasons in and the ratings rise. That probably means I'll end up paying more than i should to get them back!
