Division One Cup Final - Nantes triumph over Fiorentina in golden-goal classic

Written by member: StunningDave

The Build-Up

Two stalwarts of the community went head-to-head as Aaron’s Fiorentina faced Top Cat’s Nantes, with silverware, pride, and plenty of virtual money on the line. Pre-match betting told its own story — confidence was split on the outright winner, while a wave of punters piled into “seven or more goals,” sensing a final that could turn chaotic.
They weren’t wrong.

Fiorentina Fly Out The Blocks

Fiorentina controlled the early stages, patiently moving the ball and probing for openings. Nantes threatened briefly on the break inside five minutes, but it was Aaron’s side dictating the tempo. The breakthrough arrived on ten minutes. Quick passing carved Nantes open and Fiorentina took a deserved 1–0 lead. Momentum stayed firmly with Aaron, and just six minutes later Garnacho struck to make it 2–0, capping off a blistering start.
Nantes struggled to find rhythm, and Fiorentina could have gone further ahead, passing up a golden chance on 22 minutes. That miss would soon matter.

Nantes Fight Back Before The Break

Out of nowhere, Top Cat’s Nantes found a lifeline. On 24 minutes, Otele finished clinically to pull it back to 2–1. Aaron responded well, restoring control on the half-hour mark with a slick team move to make it 3–1.
Despite Fiorentina’s dominance, Nantes stayed dangerous. Otele continued to cause problems and just before half-time he turned provider, setting up Traore to make it 3–2. Fiorentina headed into the break ahead, but the game was far from settled.

Second Half Momentum Swing

The second half belonged to Nantes. Otele remained a constant threat and on 54 minutes, a corner was flicked on to the back post where Kroupi was waiting to make it 3–3.
Nantes now looked the more likely winners. Kroupi went clean through on 66 minutes only to be denied by an excellent save, while Fiorentina were forced into desperate defending, clearing one effort off the line before the keeper followed up with a sensational stop.

Late Drama and Golden Goal

Just as Nantes seemed poised to complete the turnaround, Aaron produced a moment of magic. On 80 minutes, Abline smashed home a stunning strike to make it 4–3, a goal that felt decisive.
It wasn’t.
Four minutes later, Kroupi struck again, levelling the match at 4–4 and sending the final into chaos. Both sides had chances late on, including a near miss for Nantes on 90 minutes, but neither could find a winner.
Golden goal awaited.

Golden Goal Heartbreak

Nantes kicked off extra time and went straight on the attack. Five minutes in, Otele surged down the wing and picked out Traore, whose effort was brilliantly saved. From the resulting corner, Otele delivered once more — and this time Nantes made it count.
Golden goal. Cup secured.

Final Thoughts

Aaron’s Fiorentina dominated the first half, while Nantes were clearly superior after the break. A draw after 90 minutes felt fair, but in golden goal it was Top Cat’s side who found the defining moment. Those backing goals in the betting markets were rewarded handsomely, while cup-winner bets went right down to the wire. On a night where drama, quality, and community spirit collided, the Division One Cup final delivered a classic.

Final Score: Fiorentina 4–4 Nantes
Golden Goal: Nantes win the Division One Cup 🏆
