Back to the Fjords

Written by member: Big B 1970

Having enjoyed being the manager of Tromsø in the past, when I decided on a change of franchise I thought I'd leave the sunshine of Corsica and head back to the Arctic Circle and take charge of the Norwegian champions, Bodø/Glimt. The Aspmyra Stadion might only hold just over 8,000 fans, but they create a great atmosphere at games, with the added unusual practice of waving giant yellow toothbrushes!

Last season was a very successful one for my team, winning Division 3 as well as taking the Div 3 Cup, but this season on the new game looks like its going to be much more of a struggle. The quality of the team is very good, with quite a few players getting upgrades on the new game, but I've found the 4-2-2-2 formation on which I built the team just isn't as effective on FC 26. That means a rebuild may be necessary, but first I need to find a system that works for me and take it from there. This is the squad and their stats before the transfer window opened:

I still had 6 of my original franchise squad from two seasons ago, and I'd fully stacked my squad at the end of last season, as you never know who is going to get those upgrades. I'd had to bring in three replacement players, as one had retired and two had transferred out of the game. As soon as the transfer window opened I made a gamble of a swap deal, letting Tzimas go, who was my top scorer last season in a swap for Kramer, brought in to give a bit of needed quality to my defence. Some of the dead wood was sold to the banker, it was sad to see the AG legend Sean Raggett leave, but with a downgrade in rating he wasn't going to get in the team this season. Also to have his contract terminated was one of my wonderkids, Chido Obi. I'd held onto him for two seasons but he just didn't get the upgrades that would keep him in the team, unlike my other wonderkid Josh Acheampong, who continues to improve.
As I continue to experiment with different tactics I've noticed that there's not really a meta formation in this years game, at least not yet, and that has to be a positive as we should get a lot of variations in the teams in the AG league. My season kicks off against payne wales who traditionally likes to throw everything into attack and isnt known for his defending skills. Expect goals goals goals in our games, I just hope they aren't all flying into my net! Good luck for the season everyone, I hope its an enjoyable one.
